Hull KR forward Jason Netherton is to leave Craven Park after eight years, the club have announced.

The 30-year-old, who joined the Robins in 2004, had a year left on his contract but has agreed a severance deal.

Netherton, who was the sole survivor from the promotion-winning team of 2006, made 166 appearances but started only two matches in 2012.

“I’ve had an amazing eight years here and am sad to be leaving,” he said. “I’ve got some brilliant memories from some really special games which I’ll never forget.

“Myself and my wife have got a few things in the pipeline so we’ll see what happens in the near future.”

Hull KR chairman Neil Hudgell said: “Jason has been part of the fabric of the club and will continue to be, even though he is moving on.

“He’s the last of the group of players who played a part in our elevation to the Super League and his contribution to the club, both on and off the field, is something he should be extremely proud of.”
