Big Eorl Looking Forward to Anderson’s Systems
Eorl Crabtree, Huddersfield Giants legendary prop forward, is predicting a big year for the Claret and Gold in 2013, as Paul Anderson’s squad takes its shape.
Crabtree, who is currently recovering from shoulder and elbow surgery, arguably had his best season in a Giants shirt last year picking up numerous individual honours in the process and now the England International is hoping the upcoming season will bring team success to Huddersfield.
“I want a big year next season. I want to be even better and I know I got a few accolades this year which is always nice, but you want to win as a team and if together we put in big performances then victories will come along the way,” he admitted.
“I am really looking forward to the new season and with the new signings I think it could be a good year for us.”
The 2013 campaign will be the first season under First Team coach Paul Anderson and Crabtree says he is looking forward to working under the new Head Coach and his playing systems.
“Coaches never take over a side with the team that they want, it’s an inheritance and Paul is sorting out his team so he can play with his structure, the way he wants, with the faces that he wants. And he is starting to get a few of those faces in place meaning we will be able to play with his system and I am really looking forward to what he is going to bring to the table.”
Crabtree, who will be embarking on his 13th season in a Claret and Gold shirt, insists the squad are looking for a noticeable improvement in terms of consistency in 2013.
“As a team we want to improve in most areas. We want to be more consistent throughout the season and finish as high up as possible,” he continued.
“But it’s not about finishing in the top 3 simply because of where we finished last year, we want a marked improvement and to get to the end of the season going into those games with the possibility of winning - that is the most important thing.”
