Welham poised for Rovers return
11th January 2013
Hull KR centre Kris Welham will make his comeback from a broken ankle in Sunday’s pre-season friendly against Wigan Warriors at MS3 Craven Park.
Welham has not played since being injured against Catalan Dragons last July but will return alongside hooker Josh Hodgson, who has recovered from the fracture in his foot which ruled him out of England Knights action in the autumn.
Rovers give first run-outs to new signings Greg Eden, Adam Walker, Cory Paterson and Evarn Tuimavave but centre Sean Gleeson, who has joined them from Salford City Reds, is sidelined with a back injury.
Former Hull KR prop Scott Taylor will make his second appearance for Wigan but stand-off Blake Green must wait to face his old team-mates.
Joe Arundel will come up against his old Castleford Tigers team-mates when he makes his first appearance for Hull FC in Sunday’s Kirk Yeaman testimonial match at the KC Stadium.
The 21-year-old England Knights player, who has recovered from a shoulder injury that forced him to sit out most of last season, is one of seven new signings expected to make their first appearance for the Black and Whites.
They include England international Gareth Ellis, the former Wakefield Trinity Wildcats and Leeds Rhinos favourite who has returned to Super League after a successful four-year stint with Australian NRL side Wests Tigers.
New-look Castleford are likely to include all but one of their eight close-season signings, with Lee Gilmour set to miss out after picking up a minor injury in training, and will be captained for the first time by centre Michael Shenton following his return from St Helens.
