The Robins take on Hull FC at the Magic Weekend on Saturday (KO 4:30pm) and it’s a contest that Craig Hall is very much looking forward to.
Having beaten the black and whites at the KC earlier in the season, Hall and his team-mates will be confident that they can retain the bragging rights and, more importantly, pick up the two Super League points on offer this weekend. However, the former FC man says that the Robins are taking nothing for granted and that the Good Friday derby victory will count for little come 4:30pm on Saturday.
“The Good Friday win was great for us but it’s in the past now,” Hall said. “Every game is different and we’re both start from scratch on Saturday. Hull have hit a bit of form and have a few players back so we know it’ll be a different challenge to last time but it’s one we’re looking forward to.
“The key for us will be playing for the full 80 minutes - we can’t afford to just turn up for 40 minutes like we have on a couple of occasions this year. It’s an 80 minute game and we have to make sure we concentrate for the full 80.”
The Etihad Stadium will host Magic for a second successive year this weekend and Hall believes that both the concept and venue work really well for the sport.
“I think the Magic concept is a great idea and I really enjoyed it last year,” he said. “Obviously getting the result the way we did helped with that and supporters from all of the clubs seemed to have a great weekend.
“The Etihad is a great stadium and the playing surface was terrific last season. It played pretty quickly and I’m sure it’ll be the same again this time round if the weather holds up.”
