Wigan Warriors forward Sean O’Loughlin has been forced to withdraw from the England Rugby League squad for the International Origin Match against the Exiles on Friday with a recurrence of a knee injury.
O’Loughlin, who missed Wigan’s victory over Widnes Vikings in the Super League on Friday with the injury, will not recover in time to play his part in the mid-season international.
“Sean has withdrawn from the squad because his recovery from a knee injury has been slower than expected,” said England Rugby League’s chief medical officer, Dr Chris Brookes.
“The Wigan medical staff will be liaising with the England medical team about his future progress.”
England coach Steve McNamara will not replace O’Loughlin in the squad and will go into the match at The Halliwell Jones Stadium, Warrington with a 19-man squad.
