Wigan Warriors will go into the Tetley’s Challenge Cup as 1/3 favourites to win the sport’s most coveted trophy when they play Hull FC in the final at Wembley Stadium on Saturday August 24 (3.00pm).
Hull FC, who have never won in a final played at Wembley Stadium, are 5/2 to emerge as winners with the sides priced at 25/1 to force the first Cup final replay since 1982.
Hull, who last won the Challenge Cup in 2005 when they beat Leeds Rhinos in a dramatic final, have also been given a 10-point start on the handicap coupon.
When the sides last met in a Challenge Cup final in 1985, a match considered the greatest of all time, it was Wigan who triumphed by 28-24, and bookmakers William Hill are offering odds of 85/1 for that scoreline to be repeated in 2013 with Hull scoring the opening points of the game.
Wigan full-back Sam Tomkins is 3/1 favourite to win the Lance Todd Trophy for the outstanding individual performance in the final with team-mates Matty Smith (6/1) and Sean O’Loughlin (8/1) the other favourites for the award.
Hull FC half-back Daniel Holdsworth (10/1) and captain Gareth Ellis (12/1) are the two men seen as most likely to be in the Lance Todd Trophy hunt for the Airlie Birds.
Tomkins and Josh Charnley are both priced as 7/1 to score the opening try of the final, with Pat Richards (9/1) and Hull’s Tom Lineham (10/1) the other main contenders.
