Whiting handed year-long testimonial

Hull FC stalwart Richard Whiting has been granted a 12-month testimonial by the Rugby Football League to recognise his loyalty.

The 28-year-old utility player has made 221 appearances, scoring 70 tries, since joining Hull from Featherstone in 2004, a total which would have been far greater but for lengthy spells on the sidelines with breaks to his arm and leg.

Whiting, who was voted the supporters' player of the year for the last two seasons, was in the Hull team beaten 16-0 by Wigan Warriors in last Saturday's Challenge Cup final at Wembley.
