Former five-time World Heavyweight Boxing Champion Evander Holyfield is throwing his weight behind tonight’s Super League play-off tie between Hull FC and Catalan Dragons at the KC Stadium (8.00pm).
The American boxer, who famously had part of his ear bitten off by Mike Tyson in 1997, will be making an appearance pitchside to support the 2013 Tetley’s Challenge Cup finalists as they look to keep their hopes of making the Super League Grand Final alive in their last home game of the 2013 season.
It will also see the man nicknamed “The Real Deal” accept a certificate alongside close friend and Nobel Peace Prize-nominated philanthropist Yank Barry for their donation to Life for a Kid, a Hull-based charity offering support to children who require life-saving operations and equipment.
The sporting legend is in the city as part of his An Evening with Evander Holyfield tour across the UK celebrating a career in which he became the Undisputed World Champion in both the cruiserweight and heavyweight divisions.
With the events including a three-course meal, film footage, a question and answer session and a memorabilia auction, the Alabama boxer will take time out of his busy schedule to greet supporters at tonight’s play-off tie.
