Carvell powered through broken rib

Warrington Wolves forward Garreth Carvell broke a rib during Saturday's 30-16 Grand-Final defeat by Wigan Warriors but only discovered the injury after going for x-rays this week.

The 32-year-old former England prop, who was playing his final game for the club after agreeing a move to Bradford Bulls for 2014, defied the painful injury to finish the match, rekindling memories of team-mate Paul Wood – who played on in last year's Grand-Final against Leeds Rhinos and only found out he had suffered a ruptured testicle hours after the final whistle.

"Thought it was a bit uncomfortable," Carvell tweeted.
