Hull FC are back in blue for 2014 after today unveiling a brand new away shirt with a colourful twist ahead of what is shaping up to be an exciting season at the KC Stadium.
Continuing what has become a traditional alternate colour scheme for the Black and Whites in the Super League era, it will see Lee Radford’s new-look side sport a sea blue shirt etched in royal trim on the road next year.
The club’s first predominantly blue strip since 2009, the design also features new away shirt sponsor Bartercard who have added Hull FC to their growing portfolio of sports clubs, which includes the likes of Bolton Wanderers, Blackpool and Sheffield Wednesday.
And with sales of the club’s 2014 home shirt proving strong since its launch three weeks ago, hopes are high the club can sell more than 10,000 replica shirts for the tenth consecutive season in 2014.
Lee Jenkinson, Hull FC’s Operations and Retail Director, said, “The best-selling away shirt during my 10 years with the club was in 2008 and this new design takes its inspiration from that.
“Uniquely different in its own way, the sea blue is a colour that has not featured across our range for a number of years and we are hopeful that once again supporters will love the design.
“A feature we are particularly proud of this year is that both our designs are classic rugby shirts to satisfy the most traditional of fans, whilst still being fashionable enough for supporters to wear away from the KC Stadium.
“We are already seeing plenty of the new home shirts out on the streets across the city and I’m sure it won’t be long before the new away shirt follows suit.
“To be the first Super League club with home and away 2014 shirts on the shelves speaks volumes of our relationship with our partners ISC and our dedication to get them on sale to fans well before Christmas.”
One of the first to set his eyes on the new design last month during an exclusive photo shoot of the club’s 2014 retail ranges, new signing Jordan Thompson has also been singing the praises of the club’s new look.
Speaking to www.hullfc.com, he said, “It was pretty weird putting a different shirt on the for the first time but I really like the designs. The blue is something a bit different and I’m sure it will be popular with the fans.
“It will be a big thing for me when I get to pull on the Hull FC shirt for the first time next year and I’m really looking forward to running out at the KC Stadium in front of our home supporters.
“As a Cas lad, I’ve also seen the numbers that travel to away games, so I’ll be doing my best to impress in pre-season and hopefully I can get an early chance to show what I can do.”
The new 2014 away shirt will go on sale to supporters from 9am tomorrow morning at the KC Stadium and Savile Street retail stores, as well as online at www.hullfcshop.com
The shirt is priced at £47 for adults and £38 for juniors, with season pass holders reminded they can claim £5 off the cost of their new shirt by redeeming their Set of Six voucher.
Supporters eager to get their first look at the new design tomorrow are also reminded they will have the chance to meet Tom Lineham and Jamie Shaul at the KC Stadium store tomorrow from 10am to 11.30am.
Unfortunately, Jacob Miller will not be in attendance as originally planned due to illness and instead will now feature at another shop signing in the near future.
The club can also confirm that the official 2014 squad numbers will be unveiled tomorrow morning.
