Parramatta have released forward Matt Ryan to enable him to take up a two-year contract with Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.
The 6ft 6in prop or back rower, who is 25, made 24 appearances for the Eels in the last two seasons.
"Matt has been a wonderful guy to have around the club," Parramatta chief executive Scott Seward said. "We wish him all the best with his next challenge in the English Super League."
Ryan, who played alongside Wakefield prop Taulima Tautai at the Eels, said: "It's pretty exciting.
"It came as a bit of a shock to get the chance to come over but I jumped at the opportunity.
"I've only had two seasons of first grade so Super League wasn't something I'd really considered but the chance to go to a new country and experience a different lifestyle and competition is an awesome opportunity."
Ryan is Wakefield's fifth recruit for 2014, their third from Australia, following the capture of Scott Anderson (Brisbane) and Daniel Smith (South Sydney) and ex-Leeds duo Richard Moore and Paul McShane.
Wildcats coach Richard Agar said: "He's a big guy who is a tremendous attacking player, has good footwork, can offload and will bring a real physical presence to our pack."
