Luke Dorn grabbed four tries as London Broncos put a weakened Warrington Wolves side to the sword at the Stoop.
Dorn struck in each half of a 10-try Broncos assault as Tony Smith’s decision to rest his stars ahead of the Challenge Cup final backfired.
Smith rang the changes ahead of the clash, resting eight first-team regulars, including the likes of Lee Briers, Joel Monaghan and Brett Hodgson with one eye on Wembley.
While Warrington had their showpiece clash with Leeds Rhinos to look forward to, the Broncos were aiming for a third straight win after back-to-back victories against Salford City Reds and Castleford Tigers.
London coach Tony Rea welcomed back Michael Robertson and Will Lovell from injury, with Dorn switching to stand-off.
The hosts raced out of the blocks and stunned the Wolves with two tries inside the first five minutes.
The first score came courtesy of speedy winger Kieran Dixon, who outstripped the defence to touch down Craig Gower’s deft kick.
And, within seconds, the hosts had doubled their lead, Chris Melling snaffling a loose pass and racing clear, with Lovell crashing over from close range after his teammate was hauled down.
Smith’s men were shaken, but they settled down and got themselves on the board when Richie Myler’s kick caused chaos in the Broncos defence, allowing Stefan Ratchford to gather the ball and stroll over at the sticks.
The Wolves were still looking a bit ragged, though, and London continued to ask plenty of questions, with one such probe leading to a third home try, Dorn stepping inside and forcing his way over the line on the 20-minute mark.
Back came Warrington, however, Myler adding their second score on 23 minutes as the game swung to and fro.
London stretched their lead to 12 points once more before the half-hour, David Howell cutting open the defence to free Omari Caro to cruise over.
There was still time though for the visitors to claim another score of their own, Rhys Williams bursting over.
One suspected Warrington would come out fired up after the break, but it was the Broncos who grabbed the first try of the second half – and a historic one at that.
Dorn was the man that got it, notching his 100th try in London colours after racing on to a Julien Rinaldi pass.
That knocked some of the wind out of the Warrington sails and, on 60 minutes, the home side eased even further clear, Robertson cashing in after a Gower kick unsettled the Wolves defence.
Things got even worse for Smith’s men when Chris Hill was sin-binned for a late hit on Gower, who picked himself up to slot over the resulting penalty.
The men from the capital were looking an entirely different proposition to the side that has struggled for so much of this campaign, and Rinaldi was the next to get on the scoresheet when he muscled over after good work from Gower.
Dorn then added two further late scores, along with another try from Robertson.
