Castleford captain Michael Shenton provided the inspiration as the Tigers destroyed London Broncos 54-6.

Centre Shenton crossed for two tries and was involved in three others as Cas maintained their excellent start to the First Utility Super League season.

For the Broncos it was yet another sorry performance in a so-far winless season that lurches from bad to worse.

The hosts made a number of positional changes for the clash, with Denny Solomona switching to full-back, and Mike McMeeken and Mason Caton-Brown teaming up in the centres.

Castleford fielded former Broncos Luke Dorn and Michael Channing in their starting line-up, with James Clare and Jamie Ellis coming in for Richard Owen and Marc Sneyd respectively.

London entered the contest on the back of six straight losses, while the Tigers were looking to bounce back from defeat at Salford Red Devils last weekend, a result that ended their 100 per cent start to the campaign.

But in the opening few minutes there was very little to choose between the two sides, with neither really threatening.

That all changed though with 11 minutes on the clock, Daryl Clark and Ellis combining well to send Channing over in the corner.

The Tigers were in the ascendency by midway through the half and came close to adding a second score when Shenton had a try chalked off by video referee James Child for straying into touch while grounding the ball.

Shenton turned provider on 22 minutes, breaking clear and then delaying his pass to allow Oliver Holmes to stride over at the posts.

Having barely flickered into life as an attacking force, the Broncos finally threatened near the half-hour mark, Jamie O'Callaghan close to wriggling over after tearing down the flank.

But Castleford showed them how it should be done on 31 minutes, Shenton grabbing a deserved try after he snagged a teasing Liam Finn kick.

The Broncos' problems grew larger seconds later, Atelea Vea sin-binned for holding down Shenton as he strode clear.

The Tigers then had a further try denied by video referee Chlld as Clare was adjudged to have slid into touch.

Child was involved again before the break, this time confirming Castleford's fourth try as Finn touched down after Craig Huby had been stripped of possession.

The visitors struck again on 46 minutes, Huby himself romping over after taking a Finn pass.

And just minutes later it was try number six for the visitors, Justin Carney streaking clear after more good work from Shenton.

By now the Londoners were falling apart at the seams, Shenton teeing up Dorn for a further score on 54 minutes, before showing great speed to add his second try moments later.

There was no let up from Cas, Carney adding his second try with 15 minutes remaining when he seized on a Sneyd kick.

The Tigers were content to take their foot off the gas from then, and the Londoners finally notched a try in the closing moments when McMeeken crashed over after a short pass from Scott Moore.
