Crooks wins Northern Try of the Month
Hull Kingston Rovers Ben Crooks has won April’s Northern Try of the Month award for his record-breaking effort against Huddersfield Giants in round 3.
Crooks scored the fastest try in Betfred Super League history – crossing the line after just seven seconds - during the Robins 25-24 victory against the Giants. In doing so, he broke the Guinness World Record previously held by St Helens Tim Jonkers who scored after 14 seconds in 2002.
The try scored by Crooks - one of two he scored that evening - helped Rovers earn their first win of the 2021 season in a thrilling encounter at Hull College Craven Park.
This isn’t the first time Crooks has received high accolades through his try-scoring prowess – he won Hull Kingston Rovers Try of the Year award last season for his finish during a dazzling team try in the Hull derby – Crooks finishing 2020 with 11 tries in 12 appearances.
On winning the Northern Try of the Month award, Crooks said: “I’m really happy to receive this award. It’s a try I’ll remember for all kinds of reasons. Thank you to everyone who voted!”
