Hay leaves Salford for Rovers post

16th May 2014

Assistant Salford Red Devils coach Andy Hay has been released from his position to take up the role of head coach at Kingstone Press Championship side Featherstone.

Rovers have been looking for a new boss since sacking John Bastian last Monday on the back of two defeats.

Ambitious majority shareholder Feisal Nahaboo has pledged "substantial investment" in order to get them into the top flight and the capture of Hay appears to be his first step.

Salford confirmed the move on their official website, with coach Iestyn Harris saying: "Andy is a talented coach and we are obviously sorry to see him go but this is a fantastic opportunity for him to progress his career at an ambitious and committed Championship side. We wish him well for the future."

Hay joined Salford from Hull FC where he had been assisting former coach Peter Gentle. Prior to that, the ex-Leeds Rhinos forward was on the staff at Castleford Tigers.
